Question

What’s the first step in planning your retirement?

Answer

Planning for retirement doesn’t have to be hard or overwhelming. Here’s a secret that will free up your thoughts around retirement.

What do you want your retirement to look like?

This is the first step to planning. You need to know what retirement is for you, what do you want to be able to do once you quick working and have free time? Travel 4 x year?

Take painting lessons and build an art studio?

Play golf every day?

Leave an inheritance to your kids?

Your retirement doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. Maybe your parents never travel, or your mom works part time at the local sewing shop. You don’t have to do what they do, you can create your dream retirement and live life on your terms.

But you have to know what you want retirement to look like first, then figure out how much that will cost per month/year.

A financial professional can help you calculate what you will need and create a plan to get there. They will look at social security, pensions, 401ks, IRAs as well as savings and annuities. And then you will have a plan of attack, a certain path to get you there based on your assets, and your wants and needs.

Which equals peace of mind.

Maybe you’re saying “I don’t have a financial advisor” or “I don’t feel comfortable talking to financial pros.”
