your health plan

Premium

The price of your policy

You may be accustomed to getting this deducted bi-weekly from your
paycheck. However, when you have to buy your own health insurance,
premiums must be paid monthly. It may be tempting to select the lowest premium, but beware, always take a deep dive into the coverage, limitations and exclusions of your policy.

Ask:

  1. What am I getting for this price?
  2. What do I have to pay in addition to my monthly premium?

BONUS TIP: Ask about premium increases.

  1. When can I expect a raise?
  2. How much will my price go up?
  3. Is the premium tied to my income? Income-based plans can be slippery for entrepreneurs.

Deductible

The amount you have to pay before the insurance company will pay your benefits.

Often, this is more important than the premium. The deductible dictates your immediate out of pocket expenses when you use your policy. The deductible is NOT the same as your “max-out-of pocket”. Find out both.
Use prior years’ statistical data to determine projected deductible levels

Ask: Do I see myself meeting my deductible this year?

BONUS TIP: Healthy entrepreneurs should seek the lowest deductible plan. In the
unlikely event that you have a catastrophic incident, you’ll want to make sure
insurance companies are paying your bills, not you!

 

Network

The pool of providers you have access to.

The 3 most common types of networks are HMO ‘s (Health Maintenance Organization), PPO’s (Preferred Provider Organization) and EPO’s (Exclusive Provider Organization)

BONUS TIP: Pick the PPO! it’s the best choice for entrepreneurs since you are not confined to a particular state. Additionally, it’s easy to see preferred specialists.

 

Co-Pay vs Co-Insurance

A co-pay is a fixed dollar amount you have to pay to a provider before you can
access services. A co-insurance is a percentage of the total billed amount that you have to pay
for your medical services.

Ask:
1. What is my co-pay for going to a primary care doctor versus a specialist?
2. What is my co-insurance 80/20, 70/30?
3. Do I have to meet my deductible before the coinsurance?

BONUS TIP:
1. There are plans with ZERO copays and coinsurances. But that does not
necessarily mean that all your services are covered at 100%! It’s prudent to delve deeper into your policy coverage.
2. 80/20 co insurance means that your insurance will pay 80% of the billed amount and you pay 20%.

 

Limitations and Exclusions

This is the fine print of your policy that clearly states the specific situations and scenarios that are non-covered.

Ask:
1. Is there a waiting period for my benefits to start?
2. What are the conditions that are not covered at all by my policy?
3. Is there a time limitation for coverage for pre-existing conditions?

BONUS TIP:
1. If you are concerned about coverage for a specific condition, ask directly if and how that is covered on your policy. Are there any limitations and exclusions around the things you need coverage for?

 

Maximum-out-of pocket

Your max out of pocket is the MOST you have to pay out of your own pocket for covered services in a plan year.

Ask:
1. Is my max out of pocket for a calendar year or policy year?
2. What is considered non- covered that does not fall under my max out of pocket?
3. Is there a limit to the coverage amount for my max out of pocket in a plan year?

BONUS TIP:
1. Try to set aside your funds for your maximum out of pocket in a separate account. That way you know that no matter what happens, you will always be protected against medical bankruptcy.

Believe in Yourself

Do you struggle with feeling confident in the person that you are and feeling comfortable in your own skin? You’re not alone and millions of people across the globe feel the same exact way. What you need to do is build your confidence fitness.

In this article, I’m going share with you 3 proven strategies that will transform your confidence by focusing on the most important person in your life – you.

 

Visualization

The mental pictures of ourselves are perhaps the number one most powerful determinant of our thinking and behaviors. If you picture yourself as a defeated person that is unworthy, you will program your mind to think and feel that way.

However, if you create mental pictures of yourself as a confident person that can take on anything in life, you’ll be using your brain’s reticular system for you and not against you.

In the book Psychocybernetics by Maxwell Maltz, Dr. Maltz explains that the fastest way to change your feelings and behaviors about yourself is to visualize yourself exactly as you want to be. He recommends practicing this for at least 30 minutes each day, preferably before bedtime or whenever you’re the most relaxed.

Have fun with this process and create a mental movie of yourself walking, talking, and behaving exactly the way that you want to be. See yourself taking massive action on your goals and overflowing with unlimited potential.

You may have thoughts that pop up, such as “I must act this way as soon as I wake up”. Be rest assured that just because you don’t see any immediate change, this doesn’t mean that the process isn’t working for you. Understand that by making it a habit of visualizing yourself exactly as you wish to be, this will transform your confidence over time.

 

Create An Empowering Morning Ritual

Having a morning ritual first thing in the morning to strengthen your body, mind, and spirit is one of the greatest things that you can do for yourself. By filling yourself up with the emotional juice of positive emotions first thing in the morning, you’ll start your day by filling up your cup of abundance.

What do most people do first thing in the morning? They hit the snooze button, have an unhealthy breakfast, and get on social media to watch other people live their lives. This is a terrible way to start your day and it’s no wonder that so many people struggle with unhappiness and a lack of confidence.

Here’s a simple formula for creating an empowering morning ritual:

  1. Pick an activity to do for your spiritual growth. This could be reading the Bible, meditating, or doing a yoga session.
  2. Do something for your body. This could be as simple as drinking a glass of water, having a healthy smoothie, or doing deep breathing.
  3. Do something for your mind such as affirmations, reading a positive book, or watching a motivational YouTube video.

If you struggle with procrastination, that’s ok. Just by doing one small thing for your body, mind, and spirit, this will transform your entire life. By starting the day off being proactive with your life, you will be blown away by how incredible you feel every day and will begin to shift your emotions.

 

Practice Mindfulness and Be Present

There’s something that low self-esteem, low self-confidence, and unhappiness all have in common. What is it? They’re fictitious realities. The only place that they exist is in your mind.

One of the greatest causes of low self-confidence and not feeling comfortable with who you are is that you have a noisy mind. Your negative mental chatter is going bonkers all day long and it causes you to suffer.

How do you calm a noisy mind? By becoming mindful and embracing the present moment. When you become truly present, there are no problems.

Look at it this way: Confidence, happiness, and joy are the natural states of all human beings. In fact, research shows that when the brain becomes mindful, its biochemistry changes and reverts back to a state of peace.

The only reason that we stop feeling confident in who we are is because of the mental baggage that originates from the mind. If you stop paying attention to the negative baggage in your head and become present, all that is left is your natural state – emotional freedom and true confidence.

When is the last time that you felt the ground beneath your feet as you walked? When is the last time that you looked around your room to notice something that you didn’t really notice before? These are all simple things that allow you to tap into the present moment – a realm of peace that is free of negativity.

What I just shared with you are three of the top ways to build your confidence fitness and be comfortable in your own skin. Remember, if you struggle with confidence, many people have been exactly where you are and transformed their lives with the strategies mentioned above.

You have within you this very second the ability to change your habitual ways of thinking in a very short period of time, but as Bruce Lee said “Willing is not enough, we must do”. Take action on these principles and you will reap the rewards.
