Women of all ages are passionate, empathetic, and doers! I've always found my community with women - whether it was participating in Girl Scouts as a kid, looking to older women as mentors and then mentoring younger women in the workplace, and now raising a young girl with my husband. Kileen worked in the non-profit sector for over 20 years before starting her consulting firm, Kileen H Marshall Consulting, in summer 2023. As a philanthropic strategist, Kileen helps donors (individuals, families, family foundations, and businesses) think more deeply about their giving and how they might best make an impact that reflects their values now rather than passing those decisions on to the next generation. More specifically, she is there to meet clients where they are in their philanthropic giving journey and walk alongside them towards the goal of moving capital from bank accounts into communities.
Philanthropic collaboration with individuals and families could look like creating a personalized philanthropic mission statement, supporting the next generation (children, teens, and adults in their 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s) learning and exercising their philanthropic muscle, navigating chosing a values-aligned DAF sponsor, facilitating family dialogue about the roots of their family’s wealth and how, if at all, this informs their philanthropic goals, and more.
In a family foundation context, philanthropic support could look like surveying past grant recipients to gather feedback about working with the foundation, revamping the application process to make it simpler for everyone, supporting a leadership transition plan, and more.
