I love working with women because they have some of the most difficult life long milestones and risks that should be addressed but are often overlooked. Let's consider the following...
Most women will at some point in their life achieve a higher education and start their professional career (not always). They begin to build their life as a young professional saving for retirement, addressing debts, saving for a home, etc. and often will down the road look to adjoin themselves to a partner through the act of Holy Matrimony. At that time one of two things happen, (1) they consolidate their finances with their spouse and often will take a backseat to managing the finances deferring to their spouse, or (2) they'll continue to manage their finances separately. Fast forward some time and they might aspire to starting a family. At that time women will experience a gap in their professional careers due to maternity leave and/or taking on the most difficult role of #homemaker while their child(ren) grow from newborn to age 6 or so when they enter kindergarten. This timeline can continue to be adjusted if the family continues to "reset the clock" by adding more children to the mix.
As you can see women have more variables to account for and gain this isn't set in stone across the board for all women. What we haven't talked about or situations like:
disability (partial or total) due to childbirth;
divorce from spouse plus having not been the driver of all things personal finance;
having to make financial decisions post divorce through court ordered distribution of family assets;
having to navigate re-entering the workforce as a divorced mother;
experiencing the untimely loss of a spouse who may or may not have been the sole-breadwinner;
navigating retirement as a widow due to death of a spouse
Again, these risks are generalized for many and I recognize that these individuals that do go through these experience could benefit greatly from being partnered with a trusted fiduciary and resource that has their best interest at heart.
