I chose to prioritize working with women for a very simple reason. I am the man that I am today, specifically because of the women in my life.
I was raised by a single mother. In fact, I never actually knew my biological father. He left before I was one year old. I know I will never truly understand the sacrifices that my mother made to make my life as normal as possible. Not only did she make sure I never did without, but she also became a very successful business owner in her own right.
The man who served as my father figure (and the man I called "Daddy") was my grandfather. He and my grandmother played a significant role in my life. However, he passed away when my grandmother was only 62 years old. After more than 40 years of marriage, she had barely driven a car on her own, much less been left to make important financial decisions.
My wife of 26 years, Dawn, has been by my side in good times and bad and literally in sickness and in health. Not only has she been more than I could have ever hoped for in a wife, she is an amazing mother two our two children.
And nothing can bring me to tears quicker than speaking of my daughter. She has become an amazing young woman and inspires me to be the best man and father I can be.
These women are my "Why".
I started my career as a Financial Advisor in 1999 with American Express Financial Advisors. I always joke that I probably could not have picked a worse time or a better time to become a financial advisor. 1999 was just before one of the most difficult periods in our nation’s history much less the financial services industry. This was at the top of the “tech bubble” and just before Y2K and the economic hardships brought on by 9/11. Helping clients navigate this period of time was extremely challenging, but also extremely rewarding. The experience I gained during this period has carried me through the following years of my career. What was the primary lesson I learned? You must have a financial plan. And after 22 years, I am more passionate now about helping our clients plan their financial future than ever before.
I’m a proud member of the following professional organizations:
CFP® Board
Financial Planning Association (FPA)
On a personal note, I was born in Amarillo, Texas, but now live in McKinney, Texas. I graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a degree in accounting. However, my most prized accomplishment is 26 years of marriage to my amazing wife, Dawn, and our two beautiful children, Kaitlyn and Eric.
When I am not diving head first into a client’s retirement plan or tax strategies, you will find me working out, reading, or traveling with Dawn.
