I Want to See You be Brave!
Be brave, take a stand, use your voice, share your talents,
The fourth of July is my favorite holiday. I love the hot summer day, the party atmosphere, the smell of the grill, and the ice cold drinks. Who doesn’t like to sit on the curb and wait for the parade to start, to see the marching band come down the street in their unified fashion? Then, as day turns to dusk, families and friends grab their blankets to lay out in the grass and wait for the fireworks to start; accompanied by the music of John Phillip Souza’s’ Stars and Stripes Forever. For me, it’s a time to thank the brave for our freedom.
The 4th, or Independence Day, commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Our founding fathers declared that the thirteen American colonies would, henceforth, be known as the United States of America. This wasn’t an easy feat. Great men took it upon themselves, and risked their lives, to lead a change, define our principles and so eloquently create one of our most important founding documents. Their bravery gave us life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
On this day we also think about all of the brave women and men who fought, and continue to fight, to keep our country safe. From sea to shining sea, so many of our children, sisters, brothers, friends and neighbors have stepped forward and vowed to protect our country with their time, their talents and, sadly, their lives. Their bravery continues to keeps us safe.
We are the fortunate ones, but we can’t take it for granted. Let’s use our freedoms, live by our convictions, and create a better world for one another. Be brave, take a stand, use your voice, share your talents, start a business, write a blog, run for office, teach that course; get out on that skinny limb to live a life well-lived and well-loved. I want to see you be Brave! #pursestrings
